Alpha Phi Alpha Just Chartered a Chapter in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
In a landmark move of global expansion, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has chartered a new international chapter, the Tau Beta Lambda Chapter, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The inauguration of Tau Beta Lambda Chapter in the Southern Region and the Florida Federation of Alpha Chapters signifies a transformative shift in Alpha Phi Alpha’s commitment to fostering leadership and service among men of African descent.
Brother Dr. Gregory J. Harris, reflecting on the significance of this chapter, expressed, “The impact of this Chapter will expand our efforts as the world calls for our expertise, leadership, and monumental service. We must bind ourselves together to transform the world. The establishment of this Chapter is another positive gain for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the expansion of our Alpha DNA all over the world.”
“In unity, we find strength; in celebration, we forge memories that last forever. Today marks the beginning of a legacy, where brotherhood and commitment pave the way for a brighter future.” Vice President Alix Jean stated.
Beyond the establishment of a new chapter, this occasion symbolizes hope and progress for Haiti. Brother Samuel Darguin aptly concluded, “Let this day be a testament to the power of unity and determination. Together, we shall continue to make history, both in Haiti and beyond.”
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., founded in 1906 at Cornell University, stands as the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established by African-American students. With chapters at over 800 colleges and universities worldwide, the organization is dedicated to developing leaders, promoting brotherhood, academic excellence, and providing service and advocacy for communities.
