Angela Bassett Makes Stunning Runway Debut At Mugler’s Paris Fashion Week Show
As Paris Fashion Week winds down, acclaimed fashion house Mugler premiered its spring ’24 runway collection on Oct. 2 and featured several noteworthy models and celebrities, including none other than Angela Bassett.
The 65-year-old actress sauntered down the runway in a sheer, black cape-style dress with a train that followed her for several feet.
The dress covered a black bodysuit with a deep v-neck and intricate cut-outs.
Mugler’s ’24 spring collection is the brainchild of Casey Cadwallader, according to Fashionista. Under Cadwallader’s creative direction, the collection celebrates the confidence and sexiness of women. Mugler’s signature corsets, leather accents and structured silhouettes were enhanced with flowing capes, fringe and detailed embellishments.
Cadwallader has helmed the brand’s trajectory since its founder, Manfred Thierry Mugler, died in 2022 at the age of 76. Cadwallader’s designs are considered more conventional and grounded than his predecessors.
“What I’m trying to do is to bring those codes and make it much more wearable day to day,” he explained to Fashionista. “There’s something interesting about shifting that materiality and the language that makes it hit people differently now.”
Unsurprisingly, social media couldn’t get over how stunningly beautiful the two-time Oscar nominee looked while rocking her runway debut.

“Oh Angela Bassett did the thang. Legend. Cause the way I would’ve been gone with the wind the way that fan was blowing,” @Rockzawesome commented.

Other recognizable faces joined Bassett on the catwalk, including Paris Hilton, the brand’s muse Connie Fleming and actress Amber Valletta. Meanwhile, celebrities like Tyga, Karol G, Jordyn Woods and Taylor Hill sat in the front row at the Carrousel du Louvre.
Under Cadwallader’s direction, Mugler has tapped into the entertainment industry to find many of its new faces. For instance, Megan Thee Stallion starred in Mugler’s spring 2022 campaign. His strikingly sexy designs also made the cut for the 28-year-old Houston native’s “Plan B” visuals. The young designer even directed the three-time Grammy winner’s video.
Paris Fashion Week comes to an end on Oct. 3, and New York Fashion Week will kick off on Feb. 9, 2024.
