The First Black Secret Service Agent On White House Detail Was An Alpha
Did you know that secret service agent Abraham Bolden is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? Bolden pledged the Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
In addition to earning his B.A. in music composition cum laude from Lincoln University, Bolden was the first African-American detective with the Pinkerton National Detective Agency prior to becoming a highway patrolman with the Illinois State Police.

Abraham W. Bolden was the first African-American Secret Service agent assigned to the Presidential Protective Division, which was led by John F. Kennedy in 1961. In October 1960, Bolden became a United States Secret Service member. In June 1961, he was transferred from Chicago and assigned to the White House detail guarding President John F. Kennedy. On the detail, newer agents were rotated in order to keep the President safe.
