Conservatives Riled Up After Sunny Hostin Described Black Republicans As An ‘Oxymoron’

Conservatives are lashing out at talk show host Sunny Hostin after she described Black Republicans as an “oxymoron.” The View host made her comment during Friday’s show as the panel discussed the historic moment for Karine Jean-Pierre, who is replacing Jen Psaki as the White House press secretary to become the first openly gay person and first Black woman to hold the position.

Guest co-host Lindsey Granger raised concern about a possible conflict of interest for Jean-Pierre, who is in a relationship with CNN reporter Suzanne Malveaux, according to The Hill.

“We have to be realistic about what happens when you’re in bed with somebody and that’s your partner or your best friend,” Granger said.

Hostin, however, said Republicans shouldn’t “mention anything about pillow talks or conflicts of interest.” The View host pointed to the recent news involving Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Virginia is accused of texting White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6 riot, urging him to keep former President Donald Trump in office, CNBC reports

As the back-and-forth continued on The View, Hostin asked Granger if she’s a Republican. The Black Republican then confirmed her allegiance.

“I feel like that’s an oxymoron, a Black Republican,” Hostin replied.

Granger pushed back.

“You feel like it’s an oxymoron? Why? Your friend right here is a Republican,” she said, pointing to co-host Ana Navarro, who is Nicaraguan-American.

“I don’t understand either of you,” Hostin said as the segment came to a close. “I don’t understand Black Republicans, and I don’t understand Latino Republicans.”
