Kansas mother returns to find apartment completely cleared out, left with nothing
A Kansas mother and her two daughters don’t have anything left after all the things in their apartment was allegedly cleared out after an error from their apartment’s management company.
Myrohn Guthrie says all her belongings were taken out of her home.
Guthrie and her daughters found her apartment empty last weekend and are currently staying with friends. The mother says Gateway Plaza Townhomes managers initially told her to call the police under the belief there was a break-in. However, it later became clear the incident was the result of a clerical mistake according to FOX 4 KC.
“They [property management] haven’t responded to anybody and I move Monday, thank God,” Guthrie told Fox News.
Guthrie said she doesn’t have renters’ insurance and has since created a GoFundMe to help pay for furniture, kitchen/bathroom essentials and clothes. FOX 4 Kansas City reported Guthrie spent two years in unit and the video of her discovery of the home without couches, dressers, TVs, beds and even the food in her refrigerator has been circulating on social media.
“I just started crying immediately and my jaw dropped and I was like. oh my God,” Guthrie told the local TV station.
Guthrie says all her items were worth about $32,000. She says they were thrown out because someone missed their intended assignment to clear out a townhome in the complex by one number.
The mother says she’s most disappointed to have lost items that were priceless to her family, which included their social security cards.
Guthrie says the apartment management hasn’t reached out or said anything about a resolution.
