Tabitha Brown gently put Wendy Williams in her place over her critique to have her husband retire from the LAPD.

Over the weekend, Brown posted a video, sharing the news that her husband Chance would be retiring from the police force now that she has accomplished her dream of becoming a Hollywood actress. 

Williams, however, was pessimistic of their decision, citing her own personal marital issues with her ex-husband. 

“I predict that this marriage is going to be on real rocky ground in a moment,” Williams said during Thursday’s Hot Topic segment on The Wendy Williams Show. “Being a cop was a big part of his identity, he liked it but she came to him and said that.”

But rather than aggressively clap back, Tabitha responded to Wendy with love and patience. 

“First off Wendy Williams, God bless you,” she said with a pleasant smile on her face, adding that her phone had been ringing off the hook with people alerting her of the news. 

“Wendy the pain you must be in to feel this way, honey, I’m so sorry. But listen, let me tell you this. Twenty-three years I’ve been with my husband, broke for a very long time together. Struggled for a very long time together. Succeeded for the last couple of years together,” she said.

Brown and her husband Chance have been open about their financial struggles during the beginning of their marriage. Chance, who is also a basketball coach and operates his own nonprofit, took the job as an officer to help support Tabitha’s dream to become an actress in Hollywood.

While Chance will retire his badge, Tabitha has encouraged him to follow his passion as a coach and has expressed her excitement for the new chapter in their lives.

“I was his dog in the fight and he believed in me and we did it together for the last 15 years,” she added.

“I did every year with him in the LAPD and he did every year with me with rejection and nos in this entertainment industry. However, God has blessed me…I’ve been praying on this for a very long time and it has now come to pass. That is the power of God. It’s also the power of allowing God to be first in your marriage. That’s how it remains successful, we keep Him first. He is first in our marriage. Not money, not business, not success, but God. He’s first,” Tabitha said.

As if her candidness wasn’t enough, Tabitha prayed that Williams, who is recently divorced, find the true love she deserves and someone who “holds you tight.”

“I pray that someone will love you enough to see you when you are not well, to see when you need true support, to see you when you need compassion, to see you when you need kindness. I pray that somebody loves you enough to sacrifice their life for you. I pray that type of love finds you so that you can understand why I don’t want my husband to put his life on the line anymore, wearing a bulletproof vest if he don’t have to and if it’s not his desire,” she said. 

Tabitha was recently in the newest season of the Showtime series The Chi. Tabitha plays the character Octavia in the show. She said that her character resonates in ways with her personal life. 

“I will say she is like me in the sense of she has peace and her mission is to love unconditionally, but then there’s a polar opposite as well,” she explained, according to ET.
