The brother of rapper Lil Durk was fatally shot outside of a nightclub in a Chicago suburb early Sunday in a string of violence. 

Dontay Banks Jr., also known by his stage name OTF DThang, was shot outside of Club O in Harvey, Illinois after shots erupted around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police officials said they are now investigating if another fatal shooting that happened hours later was done in retaliation, according to The Chicago Sun-Times.

Harvey spokeswoman Giavonni Nickson said “multiple shots” were fired and “lots of weapons recovered,” in what she described as a chaotic scene of violence.

Prior to the shooting that took Banks’ life, an altercation ensued and an officer was hit in the thigh by an unidentified gunman. The officer, identified by WGN Chicago as “Officer Muhamed,” was sent to the hospital for treatment and released. 

Police confirmed that the rapper was shot in the head and died at the scene. An autopsy is expected to be completed soon.

Later, around 2 a.m., another person was gunned down in a possible retaliation shooting, city officials said.

Police responded to a shooting victim by the name of Sinica Price. The 39-year-old was rushed to South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest and was later pronounced dead due to a gunshot wound.

As of Monday, there wasn’t anyone in police custody in connection to the shootings. As authorities continue to investigate, they ask anyone with information to contact the Harvey Police Department.

Chicago native Lil Durk has yet to issue a comment on his brother’s death.

Last year, Lil Durk, whose given name is Durk Banks, lost a member on his Only The Family label. King Von was shot and killed last fall outside of a club in Atlanta, TMZ reports. 

Von’s uncle, Range Rover Hang, said on Instagram Live this weekend that Durk played a part in OTF DThang’s death by mentioning victims of gun violence in his music, triggering more violence. 

“Durk steady saying these n****s names in songs like you don’t have to do that bro,” he said.

“This what got his brother shot,” he said, according to HipHopDX. “I f**k with his music. His movement. He making money. I’m not hating. I love to see what he’s doing. Shorty up $30, $40 million, like I love to see that because I’m from one block, he’s from the next block over. My daddy used to hang with Durk’s daddy.”
