Crimson Hockey Club is a division of the Eastern Hockey Federation, a youth hockey league in New England WCVB-TV reported. Hockey officials in Massachusetts are investigating a racist post that was made in a team chat.
“I felt scared and sad because I’m the only Black kid on the team,” Mongo said.
“It brought tears to my eyes. I was mortified because he’s a kid and the other kid’s a kid,” Mongo’s mother, Natasha Lassiter said. “They’re kids. They’re just kids. They don’t deserve any of this.”
The Crimson Hockey Club East is a member of the Eastern Hockey Federation. The commissioner of business operations, David Turk, told WCVB that the incident has been referred to Massachusetts Hockey — the governing body of youth hockey in the state. “As a league, we have a zero-tolerance policy for this type of behavior and under the guidelines from USA Hockey, these incidents are headed by the U.S. Center for SafeSport,” Turk wrote in an email to WCVB.
Turk added that the player who sent the image is no longer a member of the Crimson Hockey Club or the Eastern Hockey Federation.
